BIOS upgrade procedure

Q: How do I upgrade the BIOS?
A: First, download the .EXE file from Toshiba's website or BBS. Then, using a MS-DOS prompt, from the directory where the file is, type in the filename, followed by a space and then A:. This will extract the necessary files onto a floppy disk. Then you may follow the directions on the README file on the A: drive.
Fax: The latest BIOS upgrade can be obtained from Toshiba's website or BBS.
BIOS Upgrade Procedure
1. Download file from BBS to a temporary directory with a Communications program such as HyperTerminal.
2. Once the file is in the temporary directory you must have a formatted low density floppy diskette (720K) available. It has to be a low density diskette for the procedure to work correctly.
Note: You can format a high density diskette to 720K by double clicking on My computer and right click on drive A and choose Format, then click on drop down menu and change 1.44 Mb (3.5") to 720 Kb (3.5"). and OK.
3. Shut down all applications and shut down the machine. Restart the machine when the message Starting Windows 95 appears press the F8 key and select "Command prompt only" and press enter.
4. The machine is now in a true DOS session. Now you will need to go to the temporary directory where the downloaded file is stored. At the C: prompt, you need follow this syntax using the directory name in place of temp.
cd temp
Now type dir then press . The name of the file should appear.
5. Insert the formatted low density floppy into the a: drive.
6. Type the name of the file name then a: then press .
for example, for BIOS version 5.20 on 100 series, type in "100v520.exe a:" now press . The file will now expand to the a: drive.
7. Turn off the machine.
8. Make sure floppy is in the a: drive .
9. Press and hold on to the key and restart the machine. The machine will now run the BIOS upgrade. It will let you know when the procedure is complete.
10. When the procedure is done, remove the floppy from the drive. It must be removed from the drive before restarting the machine. After it is removed from the machine, restart the computer.
11. When the machine reboots it will reboot into T-Setup at this point you should see the BIOS version with the new number. Press then you will be prompted exit without saving press then it will reboot and continue with a regular boot.
